This 2004 R 1200C Montauk was sold new at Bob’s in 2005. Since then, it has come back in trade twice. The bike’s mileage, 48,648, certainly suggests that its previous owners enjoyed riding this machine. Its overall condition, in turn, indicates that those previous owners also took very good care of it. Considering the years and miles, this bike is in remarkably good shape! It started (with a jump), it idles and runs, and everything works! In recent years, however, this Cruiser was ridden very little. Most of your refurbishing tasks ahead will be to address the effects of a bike parked, not ridden. That’s why we’re offering it as a Project Bike.

According to our assessment, you should expect to do the following Mechanical procedures:
• A NEW Battery is needed.
• General maintenance (Bi-Annual Service) which would specifically include a brake fluid change, front & rear. The engine and drivetrain fluids appear to be fairly fresh, but changing them for good measure wouldn’t be a bad idea.
• Fuel System Service (fuel injector cleaner, stabilizer, and fresh gasoline) and inspect all fuel lines.
• Right-front Turn Signal and its mounting stalk should be replaced.
• Left-rear Turn Signal and its mounting stalk should be replaced.
• Locking Pins on the front of both saddlebags are missing. (It may be possible to improvise a suitable fix for this.)

This PROJECT BIKE has only a few Cosmetic concerns, and they are relatively minor. There is some damage to the left handgrip and its chrome-like end cap is missing. And there's a bit more than normal wear on the finish of the front fork legs. Addressing these issues could be considered discretionary.

Besides having Integral ABS brakes, Dual Head Lights, Windscreen, and Heated Grips, this R1200 C Montauk boasts several other nice FEATURES: large BMW Cruiser Touring Side Cases, a spacious Hepco & Becker Top Case, Chrome Engine Protection Bars with built-in “legs-forward” foot position, a high Solo Seat, and stylish after-market Mirrors. The bike comes with four keys: two fit the ignition and side cases; two fit the top case. However, the original tool kit is missing.
