2027 Yamaha YZF-R9

Meet the 2027 Yamaha YZF-R9—a true SuperSport that feels like it was built to turn everyday roads into your personal highlight reel. This one wears , a look that fits the bike’s sharp, modern attitude and stands out whether it’s parked outside your favorite spot or slicing through the next set of corners. (And if you’re still deciding, the R9 is also offered in Team Yamaha Blue, Raven, and Matte Phantom Blue / Fluo Red.)
At the heart of the fun is a liquid-cooled 890cc horizontal in-line three-cylinder engine with DOHC and 12 valves. Crack the throttle and the fuel-injected response comes on clean, while ram air induction adds an extra edge when the pace picks up. It runs on regular gas and still manages an impressive 48 MPG combined, so “one more ride” doesn’t have to mean “one more fuel stop.” Power is delivered through a 6-speed manual with a gear primary drive feeding a chain to the rear wheel—classic sportbike engagement, the way it should be.
The R9’s aluminum frame keeps everything feeling purposeful and precise, with an agile stance set by a 55.9-inch wheelbase, 22.6° rake, and 3.7 inches of trail. Suspension is KYB front and rear: a 43mm inverted fork up front with adjustable preload and rebound damping, and a rear setup with a single-sided swing arm and adjustable preload and rebound damping. A steering damper helps keep things composed when the road opens up.
Grip comes courtesy of Bridgestone BATTLAX HYPERSPORT S22 rubber—120/70ZR17 front and 180/55ZR17 rear—wrapped around aluminum wheels. When it’s time to rein things in, Brembo handles braking with dual 320mm front hydraulic discs (4-piston calipers) and a 220mm rear disc.
It’s sporty but still ready to share the experience, with a two-piece seat for two and a 32.7-inch seat height. Add in LED lighting and smart little touches like guards and adjustable controls, and this YZF-R9 feels like a supersport you can actually live with—right up until you decide to let it misbehave (responsibly).
