David's Take 50 Years on Two Wheels Of all the motorcycles I've ridden over nearly 50 years, the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto holds a special place for me. In fact, I own one myself. That should tell you something about how much I enjoy this bike. If you've never ridden a proper supermoto, you're missing out on one of the most entertaining experiences motorcycling has to offer. The 701 takes the light weight, upright riding position, and playful character of a dirt bike and combines them with serious street performance. The result is a motorcycle that makes even a quick trip across town feel like an adventure. The big 693cc single-cylinder engine produces roughly 74 horsepower, but the horsepower number really doesn't explain what makes this bike so much fun. It's the immediate throttle response, the strong torque, and the way the motorcycle reacts to every input. With its wide handlebars, excellent Brembo brakes, and fully adjustable WP suspension, the 701 is incredibly responsive. It changes direction almost effortlessly and feels right at home on tight, winding roads. As someone who owns one, I can tell you the 701 has a personality unlike almost anything else in the shop. It's not a touring motorcycle, and it's certainly not designed to carry a passenger across the country. The seat is tall, the wind protection is virtually nonexistent, and the engine has the character you'd expect from a big single. But that's part of the appeal. It's a motorcycle built around the pure enjoyment of riding. This particular 2024 Husqvarna 701 Supermoto has just 1,990 miles, making it a very appealing example of a bike that's already difficult to find on the used market. If you enjoy carving through the Colorado foothills, appreciate the agility of a dirt bike, and believe motorcycles should make you laugh inside your helmet, come ride this 701.
