David's Take 50 Years on Two Wheels Sometimes I think we've made motorcycling more complicated than it needs to be. After nearly 50 years of riding everything from dirt bikes to high-performance superbikes, I still find myself drawn to motorcycles that are simple, lightweight, and genuinely fun. The Ducati Scrambler Icon is exactly that kind of machine. What I love about the Scrambler is its personality. The air-cooled 803cc L-twin has that unmistakable Ducati character, with a satisfying mechanical feel and plenty of torque for everyday riding. With around 73 horsepower, it's not trying to compete with Ducati's superbikes, and that's part of its charm. It's a motorcycle you can enjoy without constantly worrying about how fast you're going. The wide handlebars, upright riding position, and relatively low seat make the Scrambler incredibly approachable. It feels light and playful, especially around town or on the winding roads through the Colorado foothills. There's something refreshing about a motorcycle that responds so naturally to your inputs without a long list of electronic settings to think about. I also appreciate the Scrambler's connection to the dirt bikes many of us grew up riding. The styling, handlebars, and relaxed ergonomics bring back some of that spirit, although I'd consider this primarily a street motorcycle that's perfectly comfortable exploring the occasional smooth gravel road. This particular 2018 Ducati Scrambler Icon has just 6,980 miles and captures everything that made the original modern Scrambler such a success. The classic round headlight, simple instrument panel, exposed engine, and distinctive fuel tank give it a timeless appearance that still looks great today. What makes the Scrambler special to me is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's the kind of motorcycle you hop on for a quick errand and somehow find yourself taking the long way home. And after all these years, that's still one of my favorite things about riding. If you're looking for your first Ducati, returning to motorcycling, or simply want a motorcycle that's easy to live with and puts a smile on your face, this Scrambler deserves a look. — David Goodman General Sales Manager Erico Motorsports Nearly 50 Years on Two Wheels 2018 Ducati Scrambler Icon RedThe Scrambler Icon is the starting point from which to express yourself.
