Engine & performance
999cc inline-four makes 205 hp at 13,000 rpm and about 83 lb-ft of torque, mated to ShiftCam variable valve timing and lift system, which smooths power delivery across the rev range rather than concentrating it all up top. Wet weight comes in around 434 lbs (197 kg) in the lightest configuration, making it one of the more svelte bikes in the liter bike class.

Chassis
Flex-optimized aluminum frame (a departure from the previous generation's bridge frame) paired with an aluminum swingarm, and semi-active Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), which adjusts damping in real time based on riding conditions.

Electronics package
This is where the bike really shines for the price point. Standard equipment includes a 6-axis IMU (inertial measurement unit) that feeds lean-angle data to cornering-aware ABS Pro and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), multiple riding modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Race as standard; Race Pro modes 1-3 on higher trims), engine brake control, wheelie control, launch control, a pit lane speed limiter, and Hill Start Control.
