The 2026 BMW R 12 G/S brings the spirit of BMW's legendary R 80 G/S into a modern adventure motorcycle, combining classic enduro-inspired styling with a powerful boxer engine and a chassis designed to have fun both on and off the pavement. With its high-mounted front fender, spoke wheels, upright riding position, and unmistakable boxer engine, the R 12 G/S has the look of a vintage adventure bike with modern performance underneath.

Power comes from BMW's 1,170cc air/oil-cooled boxer twin, producing 109 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 85 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. A six-speed transmission and shaft drive deliver the familiar BMW boxer experience, while throttle-by-wire allows the engine's character to be tailored through the available riding modes.

The R 12 G/S is designed to be more than just a styling exercise. Its 45mm fully adjustable upside-down fork and adjustable rear Paralever suspension provide 8.2 inches of front travel and 7.8 inches of rear travel, while the generous 9.4 inches of ground clearance give the bike plenty of room to handle rougher terrain. Tubeless cross-spoke wheels measure 21 inches up front and 17 inches at the rear, providing the geometry and traction-oriented setup expected from a serious enduro machine.

Three standard riding modes—Rain, Road, and Enduro—allow you to adjust the motorcycle to changing conditions, while Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Engine Brake Control, and BMW Motorrad Integral ABS Pro add electronic assistance. Riders looking for even more off-road capability can opt for the Enduro Package Pro, which adds an 18-inch rear wheel, enduro footrests, handlebar risers, hand-lever protectors, and a larger engine guard.

The R 12 G/S also offers plenty of flexibility for longer adventures, with optional equipment including Shift Assistant Pro, cruise control, Hill Start Control Pro, heated grips, tire pressure monitoring, and BMW's ConnectedRide system.
